SERVPRO of Oxnard/SERVPRO of Camarillo finds hidden mold damage found after sewage loss.

Mold Surprise

2 weeks after this business did their own cleanup and drydown, we were contracted to complete the demolition. What ultimately happened was there was still standing water in the steel structure and insulation. It turned into one of the largest mold remediations seen for us. Nearly all of the internal structure were actively growing mold. After 5 days of demolition and 5 days of air scrubbing, the structure was tested and cleared!

SERVPRO can help our neighbors by removing the charred building elements and prepare the structure for a rebuild. Food Share Oxnard

This is the aftermath of a toilet supply line breaking. The loss happened on a Saturday when no one was there. They came in on Monday morning to find a flood in the upstairs and downstairs offices. Also the water migrated to the warehouse where all the donated food was stored. Fortunately they were smart and put the pallets of food on pallet racks. None of the donated food perished. In the meantime SERVPRO is extracting the water and removing damaged materials in the building and disposing of damaged materials.

The Thomas Fire Burns Ventura Spa and Deck

The Thomas Fire scorched this fiberglass spa and wood deck at a Ventura home. Our SERVPRO crew arrived and demolished and removed the non-salvageable elements of this "water park." Fortunately, the house was only five feet from this fire damage but escaped unblemished. Our customer was elated after we supported the new fire-resistant fiberboard decking with Douglas fir treated lumber to ward off mold and termites. The site, "Like it never even happened," was ready for a new spa.

The cause of this water damage was a clogged filter

You never know when a filter will cause a 10,000 square foot building to flood. The blue round canister in this picture caused major flooding when it clogged. So check your filters and occasionally clean them out to avoid flooding your home or business.

The fire was so hot, it scorched the stucco and burnt the eves in Ventura, Ca

Here is an example of the awesome firefighters who saved this home from going up in flames. Even when there was no water left to fight the Thomas Fire in Ventura, Ca. Thanks to our first responders for saving this home. Now it's SERVPRO's turn help with the cleanup.

Getting the home back to normal

Here is the finished product of the rebuilt deck. This time we used fire resistant fiber board instead of wood. The substructure was built out of Doug Fir and was treated so that mold and dry rot would never form. The client was excited to get their deck finished so that their new spa could be installed.

Thomas Fire damage

Here is what happens when fire consumes a fiberglass spa and wood deck. The fumes from the materials in the spa when it was burning were very toxic. You could still smell the toxins even when the fire was extinguished.

Thomas Fire Spa and Deck damage

This is what happened to the fiberglass spa and wood deck during the Thomas Fire in Ventura. It's amazing because this damage was only five feet from the home. The home was untouched by the fire.

Camarillo CA mold

This loss is a perfect example of why SERVPRO's expertise is highly sought after by our clients. This loss was the result of a overflowing toilet which contained sewage.  The initial cleaning was done by the homeowner but no professional dry down or remediation was done.

This mold growth occurred over the course of six months when we were finally called in to help

Camarillo home storm damage

The recent winter storms throughout the Camarillo area have wreaked havoc for so many of our customers.  This customer discovered a roof leak during the recent rains.  Area affected included a secondary room and hallway upstairs and the attice area.  Drying was complicated by delays in fixing the roof leak as the rains continued.

The above photo shows one of the heavier areas in the attic that was affected by the rain and leaks.

Winter storms create havoc on the roads

For the first time in several years, winter storms have hit the Ventura County area hard. Notably, area streams and lakes have had their highest water level in years. However, with the higher water levels comes flooding.

This photo, taken on highway 101 in northern Ventura County, illustrates just how heavily area roads were impacted by the storms.

Camarillo mold remediation

This mold job was caused by a long-term leak from pipes in the ceiling.  Due to the leak, this job also included a water loss, so extraction of standing water was necessary in the ceiling.  Even with standing water, the wood framing was able to be dried quickly to allow for sanding to assist in the remediation process.  The loss was kept to one room totaling approximately 80 square feet. Once demolition began and our technicians were able to look inside the wall, it was discovered mold was also on the backside of the drywall which resulted in the removal of the drywall as well.

The job was completed in one day.

Camarillo Mold Remediation

This mold remediation took place in a client's bathroom.  In our photo you can see the toilet has already been removed and where the mold had begun to grow.  The area affected also included the bathtub, however only removal of the tile and drywall was necessary.

Somis Mold Remediation

This staircase had to be gutted as a result of mold from a previous water loss.  Carpet, padding, and the drywall lining the stairwell all had to be removed before equipment would be placed to clean the air and begin remediation.

Camarillo Bathroom fire

This fire began from some damaged electrical wiring in a client's bathroom.  The fire did extensive damage to the bathroom, including breaking through the ceiling drywall.  The fire department was called and as a result a water loss was also incurred which we were able to cover as well.

Kitchen Fire

This fire was started within a microwave unit.  The resulting damage led to the removal of the stove unit as well.  As you can see by the severity of the fire, heavy soot coated the home so much that HEPA vacuuming was required before any other work could be done.

Fire-related water damage

This job actually came to us from a customer in Simi Valley.  After putting out an electrical-related fire, the resulting water flooding necessitated a call to us for some extraction, drying, and then fire cleanup.  This one ticked a lot of boxes and we were glad to make it "Like it never even happened"

Arson fire in Camarillo CA

This was one of our more interesting calls.  A suspected arsonist began a fire on this client's front porch.  As you can see the damage was rather extension on the porch.  The majority of the damage inside the house was residual from the fire outside.

Kitchen fire Camarillo CA

This loss was the result of a cooking fire that left ash residue as far as the den, on the other side of the home.  In the photo you can see the loss site  which included the exhaust fan.  As a result of the smoke and fire getting into the exhaust fan, a duct cleaning was also needed to complete the job.

Camarillo CA mold remediation.

Upon arrival to a water damage our SERVPRO of Camarillo crew found no standing water but once the baseboards were removed a significant amount of mold was found.  Dehumidifiers were placed immediately and the process of mold remediation began.

"Most disasters call for traditional drying methods, but sometimes we improvise and improve on our traditional ways. Here we have an LGR dehumidifier reducing the relative humidity in the room as well as increasing the temperature of the ambient air, meanwhile the air movers will send the hot air through the plastic ducting and exit directly over the affected area through strategically cut slits aiding in the evaporation rate and this drying out as efficiently as possible."

The team lays eyes on the culprit for the water loss in the kitchen.  It's difficult to see but the black pipe on the left hand side broke and created the loss.

Fans, air movers, and dehus line the corridor to several offices as they work to dry out some carpeting.  This corridor was close to the origin of the loss and as such was a greatly affected area.

This office had a bathroom overflow and by pure luck one of their employees forgot a personal item and came back for it.  When she arrived, she was able to catch the loss and call in SERVPRO.
